Angélique Kpasseloko Hinto Hounsinou Kandjo Manta Zogbin Kidjo:

Time magazine has called her “Africa’s premier diva”.

The BBC included Kidjo in its list of the African continent’s 50 most iconic figures.

The Daily Telegraph in London described her as “The undisputed queen of African music”.

In March 2013, NPR called her “Africa’s greatest living diva”.

Angélique and her husband approached Icon Digital in 2014 and asked us to create a website promoting her new autobiography Spirit Rising, the new album Eve, and a world tour.

We met with Angélique at her home in Brooklyn and shared our mutual love for 1960s and 1970s music from Benin, Togo, Nigeria, Ghana, and the Ivory Coast. We played our favorite songs in the kitchen, where she translated some of the regional mysteries in the music that had bewildered us for years.

We studied Angélique’s autobiography and listened deeply to her music.

We incorporated into our design diverse visual elements from her professional and personal life, like the textile designs of Western and Central Africa which connected generations of her family’s cultural heritage.

We created a custom parallax, multimedia-rich, unified interface that efficiently marketed three distinct events and connected her fans on Facebook, Twitter, Soundcloud, Youtube, & Vimeo via software APIs.

Icon Digital is honored to have worked with Angélique Kidjo, a vibrant and amazing musician and human rights activist.
