When Sony Legacy approached us in 2011 to research, curate, and manage a year-long digital campaign for the 25th anniversary of Paul Simon’s landmark album Graceland and the premiere of the documentary film Under African Skies, we were beyond thrilled.
We think he’s one of the greatest songwriters in the history of recorded music.
Icon Digital worked with Sony and Paul Simon’s management team, handling research, content development, content curation, copywriting, and client approvals.
Icon Digital created a custom HD archive of multimedia content & a long-term content delivery strategy to implement it.
We were given exclusive access to Paul Simon’s official social media channels.
Because we are fans ourselves, we developed content that we believed would engage & reach out to other fans around the world.
We studied every album, song, and interview from Paul Simon’s solo career, delving deep into the catalog to create a musically, artistically, & intellectually satisfying digital experience.
The campaign was highly successful.
A 451% increase in the number of fans reached, and an 11,355% increase in viral reach on Facebook alone.
In the process, Icon Digital formed a trusted relationship with Sony Music Entertainment which continues to this day.
