Soul-Gospel legend Mavis Staples: a voice that sounds like “the hand of God parting the clouds”.
We absolutely love Mavis Staples, so when Icon Digital was given the opportunity to embark on a complete redesign and redevelopment of her website, we were beyond thrilled.
Icon Digital was given full creative latitude on the project. When we met with Mavis in NYC, we said, “If there are any guidelines or feedback you have for us, or something that you’d personally want to see on the site at any time, please let us know and we’ll make it happen.”
Mavis smiled and said, “Scott – you just do what you do.”
We reimagined and re-engineered everything from the ground up, creating a custom digital space for Mavis that reflects the style, grace, and the incredible power of her art.
We worked closely with Mavis and her management team to obtain high-resolution masters of every archival image we could track down.
We researched Mavis’ entire musical history: every album, song, compilation, and every televised/filmed performance of her career.
Our main goal: to present the great art of Mavis Staples to the world, without letting anything get in the way.
Our website was nominated for a 2014 Web Awwward ‘for design, creativity, and innovation on the internet’.
We are truly proud to have worked with Mavis Staples, exclusively managing all aspects of the website since launch in August of 2013.
